From Siem Reap to Bangkok – A Journey of Grit, Purpose, and Reflection

It all began in Hong Kong, with a simple pre-race briefing—yet even that had roots in Ajmal Samuel’s powerful backstory. As he passed through the Kai Tak MTR station on his way to the meeting, memories stirred of a vanished airport and a life forever altered by fate at the age of 21. From that moment of injury came resilience, and from resilience, a life of global adventure. Six months later, that spirit came alive on the roads of Southeast Asia, as Ajmal and his team reunited in Siem Reap to begin a transformative ride through Cambodia and into Thailand. This wasn’t just a test of endurance; it was a mission—fuelled by philanthropy, inclusion, and education. The journey brought Ajmal face to face with the complex legacy of places like Pailin, once scarred by war, now echoing with laughter and learning in schoolyards. Along the way, ASF also championed athletes like Ithisham Ali, supporting him with mentorship and equipment so he too could chase the freedom of the road.
